The challenges facing organizations today demand strong
leadership that can motivate and inspire others around a common vision to
achieve stated goals and objectives. But
leadership has little to do with title or position. It is about behavior and attitude. Anyone can be a leader by exemplifying those
qualities that inspire others to want to passionately play a part in an
organization’s success. Those
organizations who consistently win in the market develop and nurture strong
leadership behavior with all employees, regardless of their function or
role. Also, leadership has little to do
with control and everything to do with influence. You can order someone to complete a task or
objective. But you can’t order them to
be passionate about it. Effective leaders are able to influence
people to do things because they believe in the same vision, goals and
objectives. Organizations today are in
great need of strong leaders who conduct themselves with a set of values and
principles that are non-negotiable and unwavering. And candidates for an open position can
certainly distinguish themselves from others by conveying a commitment to and
understanding of the principles of effective leadership as an influencer and
example of inspirational behavior.
